When a car window breaks you don’t want it left open to the elements even if nobody is going to try to steal your stuff. I was riding to Dairy Queen today and had a conversation about broken windows. My fiancee had just seen one and it got me thinking about how to solve that better than using garbage bags. I feel for people when they have a situation that sucks like that. Victims of normal living.
The garbage bag fix was a pretty decent one but it is so thin and it isn’t easy to see through and isn’t big enough for a window really and just is a pain to work with.
OK. So we need something tough but flexible and clear that can go in place of a garbage bag. At that moment a jeep drives past.
Now I’ve got it. We will use the thick clear plastic that jeeps use. Jeeps are vehicles and durable and most people don’t rob them. I figure that is a good way to go.
You can connect the plastic to the vehicle using adhesive strips. The adhesive strips probably shouldn’t be clear crappy tape. There is one solution for sure. The foam double sided adhesive strips used for winterizing your house with plastic over the windows. (For those not from here, we put plastic over the windows to keep out the cold that seeps through the windows.)
A simple kit then could be a X by Y feet sheet of the clear jeep window plastic and double sided adhesive foam strips. Maybe even include rudimentary scissors that can help you get fixed up in a jiffy. You could perhaps find a really good thin clear tape that would work well. They also sell the double sided clear tape for the winterizing kits so you could probably use those too.
If someone does this, please take a picture and put it up somewhere. A website, Facebook, etc. Then send me a link to it and I might share it.
