We are all biologically wired to be driven to belong to others socially in various forms. It starts with family, then friends, then romantic. Some people may be conditioned out of this or have some other anomalous biological condition that causes them to not want to belong to others socially.
There are various types of social groups people will want to belong to. Here are some of the most common:

- Third Places – A third place is somewhere other than home (1st) or work (2nd). Examples: Church, bar, cafe, community center, event center, library
