About Police
Police forces in the USA have been noted by society to be bad but also good. There most certainly are a great deal of police that are bad but also most certainly police that are good. There are many variables that determine things about police.
Variables to Consider
- The police office – An office will have its own culture which is an average behavior because otherwise you get fired or ostracized out of the group. There are exceptions but an average tends to be maintained as a trend behavior.
- City – Different cities have different cultures just like different offices.
- Gender – Men tend to be understood be masculine and therefor accepted in their ability to perform masculine jobs. Less masculine men might tend to be kinder or try to prove their worth by being more aggressive than is required. Men that are very masculine tend to be more aggressive than is required by default.
- Ethnicity – Minorities in any group will tend to be ostracized if they do not conform to the overall nature of the group they are in. This means that they tend to try to do less that will upset the group they are in.
- Years in the police career – As you get further in years in any career you get a bit jaded but you also get more understanding of the nuances of the job that aren’t exactly very straight forward.
- Specific personality of the police officer – Just like any group, it is composed of people with various personalities. These various personalities will be exhibited in their jobs.
- The management perspectives –
Police have to interact with people all of personality types in society. The personality types that have a tendency to get into trouble are the less rational and more aggressive personality types. Having to deal with irrational and aggressive personality types requires a masculine, assertive, and at times aggressive personality type to be effective.
Tendencies and trends – Tendencies and trends are learned about the types of people that they have to deal with. This then as a side effect tends to tint their view of humanity as a whole. This tinting of how situations and people are happens to everyone in every walk of life. You assume that what you see all the time is the normal and what you once in a while is an exception and not normal. That not normal could be seen as positive or negative. When the tendency of people you interact with is primarily negative and you have to hunt out what is wrong, you tend to do that with most everyone by force of habit.
Profiling – Everyone profiles by natural habit. Habits are forces you have to actively work against if you don’t want those habits to impact your life or scenarios. This means that if you are always not poor you will assume something is wrong with people that are poor and that they should just do something about it. People who have never been homeless will not understand what it is like very well and might say that it was all their fault for becoming homeless and not getting out of that hole. Unless you have been in someone elses position, it is very hard to understand their position well. While assuming everyone fits a specific profile is bad, profiling exists naturally just so you can survive reasonably.
